NDIS RENTAL ACCOMMODATION

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can provide funding for adults to rent specialised accommodation that caters to people with disabilities.
As a registered NDIS accommodation provider, we know that the process of pursuing NDIS housing is time-consuming and can be met with challenges. Researching NDIS accommodation vacancies is only the beginning. Moving into disability accommodation involves several steps that we are here to guide you through.
Getting Started
Identifying housing as a goal in your NDIS plan is where the process begins.
If you don’t have an NDIS plan, you’ll need one. If you already have a plan but you’re unsure about what’s included, we can provide you with the information you need.
Eligibility for NDIS Accommodation
There are a number of criteria you need to meet, in order to be eligible for NDIS accommodation support. We can discuss this with you. Once you’ve determined your eligibility, we can then discuss your accommodation preferences.

Funding & Application
Applying for supported accommodation through the NDIS requires the input from support coordinators (30-50 hours) and occupational therapists (12-15 hours).
Their input will go towards your NDIS accommodation (SDA) application.
Exploring NDIS Accommodation Options
This is where we start exploring NDIS accommodation options. We will guide you through our various housing options, which include single-occupancy, dual-occupancy and shared group homes.
We will provide you with clear, transparent information and detailed tours of our available properties to help you make an informed decision in securing a property that meets your specific needs and preferences.
We can also assist you in preparing and submitting a formal expression of interest.
Application and Approval
Once your application for NDIS accommodation has been submitted, it’s just a matter of awaiting approval.
The process typically takes around 6 to 9 months. However, depending on the information received, the urgency, and the assessment of your eligibility, it may take less time, or may take up to 12 months.
Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Our goal is always to provide choice. Whether you’re happy with your current provider or you’re looking to explore other SIL providers, we can help you determine SIL for your chosen accommodation.
Once you’ve chosen your Supported Independent Living provider, you can submit your quote for SIL to NDIS and wait for approval.
(Please note that Sana Living are not a SIL provider; we are an accommodation provider).
Signing the Lease
Once you’ve chosen your ideal NDIS accommodation, we’ll help you sign the lease and provide all the necessary information before moving in.
We’ll be there to show you how the assistive technology works and anything else you need to know, to ensure a seamless transition into your new home.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides accommodation support to individuals with high support needs or extreme functional impairments who require specialised housing to live independently.
To be eligible for NDIS accommodation support, individuals must demonstrate that they require ongoing support to assist with daily activities, such as getting in and out of bed, dressing, meal preparation, and accessing the community.
At Sana Living, we’re here to help you to find the right home for your needs, however, please note that we do not provide other types of support services (i.e. SIL).
You need to have NDIS funding that covers accommodation costs.

To access NDIS funding, you must first have an NDIS plan that outlines the supports and services you are eligible for, including accommodation. This funding is designed to assist with various aspects of your living needs, such as housing, support services, and any additional requirements that help you live independently and comfortably.
The amount of funding you receive for accommodation support will depend on your specific needs, including the type of accommodation required, and any additional supports you may need. Once your NDIS plan is in place, the funding for accommodation support will be available to assist with rent, modifications, and assistive technologies necessary to meet your daily needs.
At Sana Living, we claim the amount approved for accommodation/rental within your NDIS plan. We will draw down on this money directly from the NDIS portal.
