Sharing the Real Impact of SDA Through Participant Stories.

Sana Living are proud to have contributed to Participant stories, a publication developed by the SDA Alliance that shares the lived experiences of people whose lives have been transformed through Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).

The publication was created in response to a request from Minister for the NDIS, Jenny McAllister, and has been distributed to key government departments, agencies and decision-makers across Australia. It highlights the stories of participants navigating the NDIS and SDA systems, while demonstrating the positive outcomes that can be achieved when people have access to the right housing.

Carl’s Story

One of the stories featured belongs to Carl – a Sana Living tenant. Carl was diagnosed with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and spent more than a year pursuing SDA funding before moving into his Sana Living apartment in Perth. Today, he enjoys greater independence, confidence and freedom to continue doing the things he loves, whether that’s spending time at the beach, catching events in the city or planning a trip to visit family overseas.

Carl’s story is a powerful reminder that SDA is about much more than accessible housing. At its best, it enables people to maintain their independence, stay connected to their communities and live life on their own terms.

We thank the SDA Alliance for providing a platform to share these important stories and for continuing to advocate for the Participants at the heart of the SDA conversation. And thank you to Carl – for sharing his story.
